Lord, I spend so much time looking at other people finding their faults, talking about their downfalls, and criticizing their lives. I don’t spend enough time looking at my heart.
I spend so much time being envious of others and forget to be grateful for what I have. I am so busy trying to find something wrong with someone else I ignore the hate, malice, strife, and unforgiveness in my heart.
It’s sad but true that sometimes I look down at someone else to feel better about myself. I start, “at least I don’t do that” game, to make me feel better about the pettiness in my heart. Forgive me.
Lord God, give me the heart to want to see the good in everyone. Give me the heart to want to treat others the way I want them to treat me. Give me the heart to overlook someone who has offended me, just like You’ve forgiven me all the times I’ve offended You with my haughty spirit, unchecked pride, and obstinate disobedience.
Lord, help me and change my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
