Lord, most people spend so much time looking outward at other people; they don’t spend enough time looking inward at their own hearts.
We spend so much time being envious of others that we forget to be grateful for what we have. We are so busy trying to find something wrong with someone else; we overlook the hate, malice, strife and unforgiveness in ourselves.
It’s sad but true that many people feel like they have to down someone else in order to make them feel better about themselves. I’ve done this myself. Forgive me.
Father God, give me the heart to want to see the good in everyone, including myself. Give me the heart to want to treat others the way I want to be treated. Please give me the heart to overlook someone who has offended me, just like You’ve overlooked all the times I’ve offended You with my haughty spirit, unchecked pride and obstinate disobedience.
Father, help me and change my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
