Prayer for Today

January 17, 2018

Lord God, in the midst of my preparing for great things this year help me not to lose sight of you and the work you have already began in me. Last year I went through difficulties, heartaches and circumstances that I had no control over. In the midst of all that, you began breaking and molding me into the creation you purposed me to be from the foundation of the earth. This breaking process required me to begin some good changes that should be carried into this year so I should build on them.

Lord, help me to assess all that I am; all my gifts, talents and abilities should be taken into account. Everything I can do, not just what I like to do should be considered as possible avenues of improving my overall well-being.

I need to be honest with myself regarding my shortfalls and the areas where I have below par performance. Just because I can do something, or I like to do something, doesn’t mean it’s what I should do.

Father, this type of in-depth look at who I am from the inside out is difficult, sometimes hurtful and requires a level of truthfulness I am not accustom to operating in; particularly not with myself. In order for me to correctly judge myself I need your word as a measuring rod. I need your word as a guide. I need your word as the standard for which I am striving to live.

To truly prepare myself for this year blessings, changes and enrichments I need your word to be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

Lord, help me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

10 Second Prayer

God specializes in handling our situations and circumstances. Nothing we can do or anywhere we can go is beyond God’s ability and desire to reach us.

Stop fretting over things you can’t do anything about and give them to God. He can take care of them completely.
