Prayer for Today

January 7, 2021

Father, our country needs You. Yesterday, we saw what many of us never thought we’d see, an insurrection at our nation’s Capitol.

As Senators and Congress were preparing to vote to certify the States presidential election results, a mob of domestic terrorists stormed our Capitol and took it over.

They broke windows, looted items, and a young woman lost her life. It was heartbreaking to watch.

We have become a nation divided against itself. If this act of domestic terrorism is what it takes to bring us together, then thank You. If watching yesterday’s insurrection at our nation’s Capitol causes us to re-exam the words, “One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” then thank You.

Only You can take something so horrible and disheartening and cause it to turn for our good. Lord, help the United States to live up to our creed that all people are created equal and that we live under You, our Lord, and our God. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
