Father, create in me a clean heart and renew a correct spirit in me. I go through this world everyday and the filth, depravity, heartache and anger of this world system is all around me. I would be foolish to think that the muck and mire of this world hasn’t rubbed off on me.
I find myself thinking about things and I don’t even know where the thought came from. I find myself getting angry or being petty over stupid superficial things. I find myself being overly critical of others and myself. I find myself comparing myself to others, and always seem, in my mind, to come up short. None of these thought patterns or actions come from you, oh God.
Create in me a clean heart and renew a correct spirit in me. I ask your forgiveness Lord. I know that you will forgive my every sin; not because I deserve your forgiveness but because you love me enough to forgive me. Help me to be forgiving of others as you forgive me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
