Day 10 – Final Installment
Your Next Step
Perhaps God is gently nudging you beyond familiar territory.
Maybe God is calling you to begin a ministry.
Repair a broken relationship.
Start a business.
Write the book.
Lead the Bible study.
Apply for the position.
Forgive someone.
Trust God with your finances.
Release your carefully scripted plans.
Or perhaps your next step is something no one else will ever see—quietly surrendering a fear, changing an attitude, ending an unhealthy habit, or simply saying, “Yes, Lord,” before you know exactly where that yes will lead.
Whatever the invitation, remember this: God never calls us beyond our comfort without also providing His presence.
Where His calling leads, His grace follows.
Where His assignment stretches us, His Spirit strengthens us.
Where our ability ends, His power begins.
The challenge is that we often want God to show us the entire journey before we take the first step. We want guarantees and details. We want to know how everything will work out before we move.
But faith doesn’t works that way.
God often gives us enough light for the next step, not the entire staircase.
Abraham left home without knowing exactly where God was taking him. Moses stood before Pharaoh without knowing how Pharaoh would respond. Joshua stepped toward the Jordan while the waters were still flowing. Peter climbed out of the boat while the waves were still moving beneath him.
Their confidence was not in the circumstances.
Their confidence was in the God who called them.
That same God is calling us to trust and obey Him today.
You may feel inadequate for what is ahead. You may wonder whether you have enough strength, wisdom, resources, experience, or courage. But throughout these ten days, we have discovered an important truth: God does not require us to be sufficient. He asks us to trust the One who is.
Your weakness does not disqualify you.
Your uncertainty does not cancel your call.
Your discomfort does not mean you have missed God.
Sometimes discomfort is evidence that God is stretching your faith, enlarging your capacity, and preparing you for something your present comfort could never produce.
The wilderness can become a classroom.
Closed doors can become divine redirection.
Adversity can build perseverance.
Waiting can deepen trust.
Weakness can reveal God’s strength.
And uncomfortable assignments can introduce us to dimensions of God’s faithfulness we would never experience while remaining safely on the sidelines.
One day you may look back on the season that felt the most uncomfortable and realize it became the season that revealed God’s faithfulness most clearly.
You will remember the prayers you prayed when you did not know what to do.
You will remember the doors that closed.
You will remember the moments when your strength ran out.
But you will also remember that God was there.
He provided.
He strengthened.
He redirected.
He taught.
He carried.
He remained faithful.
Comfort may feel safe, but transformation often lives beyond it.
The God who calls you out is the same God who walks beside you.
So, take the step.
Leave the familiar when God says move.
Stay when God says wait.
Release the need to control every outcome.
Stop measuring your future by your present ability.
Trade self-reliance for God-dependence.
Allow God to use the wilderness, the waiting, the uncertainty, the closed doors, the difficult assignments, and even your weaknesses to shape you into the person He is calling you to become.
You do not need to know everything that lies ahead.
You only need to know the One who is leading you.
And when God says, “Come,” trust Him enough to move.
Watch what happens when obedience becomes greater than fear, faith becomes stronger than uncertainty, and your weakness becomes the stage upon which God’s strength is displayed.
For the safest place you will ever be is not inside your comfort zone.
It is in the center of God’s will.
Questions to Consider
- What is God asking me to do that I have delayed because it feels uncomfortable, uncertain, or beyond my ability?
- Am I depending more on my own strength, resources, experience, and plans than I am on God?
- Is there a closed door I am still trying to reopen when God may be directing me toward something new?
- What fear, habit, relationship, plan, or expectation do I need to surrender so that I can move forward in obedience?
- What is one practical step of faith I can take today without waiting until I understand the entire journey?
Closing Prayer for the 10-Day Journey
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for walking with me through these ten days and reminding me that my life is safest when it is surrendered to You.
Thank You for showing me that discomfort does not mean You have abandoned me, that weakness does not mean I have failed, and that waiting does not mean You have forgotten me. Help me recognize that some of the places I would rather escape may be the very places where You are doing Your deepest work in me.
Lord, when You lead me into unfamiliar territory, teach me to trust You.
When doors close, give me the faith to believe that You can redirect my steps.
When I find myself in the wilderness, help me become a student instead of simply searching for the nearest exit.
When adversity comes, help me develop perseverance.
When I must wait, strengthen my trust.
When I feel weak, remind me that Your strength is made perfect in weakness.
I surrender my fears.
I surrender my plans.
I surrender my comfort.
I surrender my weaknesses.
I surrender my future.
I surrender the parts of my life I have been afraid to place completely into Your hands.
Lord, build in me a history of trust so that when the next giant appears, I can remember the lions and bears You have already brought me through. Remind me of every prayer You answered, every door You opened, every provision You made, and every moment when Your grace carried me farther than my own strength ever could.
Give me courage to take the next step You place before me—even when I cannot see the entire road.
So today, Lord, I choose faith over fear, obedience over comfort, surrender over control, and dependence upon You over dependence upon myself.
Give me the courage to get out of the boat, step into the water, leave the familiar, and follow wherever You lead.
I trust that where You call me, Your grace will sustain me.
Where You send me, Your presence will accompany me.
And when my strength ends, Yours will be more than enough.
