Day One: Wait for the Appointed Time

“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” —Habakkuk 2:2–3 (NIV)

Habakkuk trusted God, but he did not understand what God was doing. He brought his questions to the Lord and declared, “I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts” (Habakkuk 2:1, NIV). While he waited for an answer, he remained at his post.

That sounds straightforward until we have to do it ourselves! We may obey God, carry out our responsibilities with excellence, and expect Him to act. Then we begin to think He should do what we want, the way we want, and when we want. NOPE! That is not how faith works.

God told Habakkuk that the revelation had an appointed time. Though it seemed slow in coming, he was to wait for it. We, too, can bring our honest questions to God. We can ask for clarity while trusting that He sees what we cannot.

Question to consider: Where have you been asking God to follow your timetable?

Prayer: Lord, I trust You, even when I do not understand Your methods. Help me bring my questions to You and wait with expectation for Your answer. Amen.
