Father, most days it seems my obedience to you is built on the slippery slope of my emotions. I start out being confident, purposeful and determined, then something always happens that takes me off course.
I start out well, working at blistering speed to do everything you told me to do. I am diligent and determined to be obedient to your call and destination for my life, then I get distracted by something that has nothing to do with what you told me to do and I slow down. I end up trying to do what you told me to do and keep an eye on the thing or person who is distracting me.
I continue my quest to be obedient to what you told me to do, but now at a slower pace and not as diligent or determined as when I started, and then, someone says something or does something to discourage me or, a circumstance comes up that I wasn’t expecting and I am stopped in my tracks.
The next thing I know, I’m praying again and asking you to show me what you want me to do when you’ve already told me, I’m just not doing it. Help me Lord! Father, help my unbelief!
Thank you for being patient with me! Thank you for never giving up on me! Thank you for giving me chance, after chance, after chance to get this right. Thank you for your grace and your mercy this is never ending. Where would I be without your love?
Father, today I’m going to start again. I’m going to pick up where I left off and start again to be obedient to your call on my life. Thank you Lord for your new mercies that are going to bring me through if I just keep my eyes on Jesus. Help me Lord! In Jesus name, I pray! Amen!
