Prayer for Today

I John 4 20

August 23, 2016

Father, forgive us, those of us who call ourselves your children, for not acting like brothers and sisters. Forgive us for allowing the things of this world; money, material things, political parties, race, religion and denominations, to stop us from treating each other the way you have told us to treat one another.

You told us to treat each other the way we want to be treated but we don’t do this on a consistent basis. We show each other disrespect, anger and a lack of trust. You told us not to love in word or talk but in work and deed. These days it seems we work to treat each other like enemies if we don’t agree with one another.

Father, help us become unified under the blood of Jesus Christ. Help us to show others the mercy and grace you shown to us. Help us to remember that no one, except Jesus is perfect so we need to bear with one another as you bear with us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
