A Three-Day Devotional

Day Three: Transformed to Overcome
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing, you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2
In the Transformers movies, Bumblebee and the other Transformers change form when they must confront an enemy. Their transformation reveals strength, power, and abilities unseen while they are in disguise. What appears on the surface does not reveal everything within them. They are truly more than meets the eye.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we must also be transformed to confront enemies such as doubt, fear, depression, anxiety, insecurity, temptation, and shame. Our transformation takes place through the renewing of our minds.
We cannot consistently live transformed lives while holding on to old ways of thinking. If fear, shame, bitterness, or others’ opinions control our minds, our lives will keep reflecting those thoughts. God’s Word must replace the lies we have believed with His truth.
When doubt says, “You cannot do it,” God’s Word reminds you that you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you.
When shame says, “You will always be what you were,” God’s Word declares that you are a new creation.
When fear says, “You are alone,” God’s Word assures you that He will never leave you nor forsake you.
When condemnation says, “God cannot use you,” grace responds, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
As God’s Word transforms our thinking, we begin to see ourselves as He sees us—not as prisoners of our past, but as redeemed, restored, and renewed children of God. He gives us spiritual power, wisdom, understanding, and discernment to face whatever comes against us.
Transformation is not pretending to be someone else. It is becoming the person God created you to be.
Through the renewing of our minds, we become more than what meets the eyes or expectations of others. People may remember who we were, but God knows who we are becoming.
Let us purpose in our hearts not to conform, but to be transformed.
Questions to Consider
- What negative thought does God want to replace with the truth of His Word?
- Which enemy—fear, doubt, anxiety, insecurity, or shame—are you confronting today?
- What Scripture can you proclaim whenever that enemy attempts to return?
Prayer
Father God, transform me through the renewing of my mind. Replace every lie with Your truth and every fearful thought with faith. Give me wisdom, strength, and discernment to confront anything that attempts to keep me bound. Help me become the person You created me to be and live as a visible testimony of Your transforming power. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
