Prayer for Today

John 13 34 - 35

May 26, 2016

Father, C.S. Lewis said, “Hardships often prepare ordinary people, for an extraordinary destiny.” While his quote is true, hardships always leave us with cracks and crevices in your hearts and minds.

Father, please search us to see if there is any anger, bitterness, resentment or animosity in our hearts against anyone, including ourselves.

Over the course of our lives we’ve run into all types of trials, tribulations and difficulties that have caused us hurt and pain. Sometimes the hurt we experience was orchestrated by people we loved and trusted. Other times the hurt and pain was because of things we did or didn’t do.

Father, no matter how the hardships, trials, tribulations or difficulties arose in our lives, the hurt and pain has left us scared and bruised and susceptible to anger, bitterness, resentment and animosity towards others. Forgive us for harboring ill-feelings against other people.

Free us to be joyful and fulfilled in you. You are our peace. You will mend our broken hearts. You will cover us with under your wings and give us reasons to be happy while we rest in Christ Jesus. Father, begin the healing process in us, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Stop fretting over things you can’t do anything about and give them to God. He can take care of them completely.
