Let God Delight in You
…”If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”… Psalm 37:23 – 24
If I take this passage of scripture and break it down into the Hebrew, it would read like this:
23 “If the companionship (steps) of a good (righteous) man or woman are set-up, established, fixed, appointed, sure, prosperous, confirmed (ordered) by the Self-Existing, Non-Created, Eternal One (Lord Jehovah): and the Lord Jehovah is pleased with (delights) in the good (righteous) man or woman course of life (way)
24 Though the good (righteous) man or woman may fall away, becomes overwhelmed, is overthrown (stumble), he or she will not be completely destroyed, waste away or sent reeling (fall); for the Self-Existing, Non-Created, Eternal One (Lord Jehovah) will bear up, take hold of, establish, sustain (uphold) the good (righteous) man or woman with his power, means, direction (hand.)
If you are in Christ you are the righteousness of God (II Corinthians 5:21), having been made good/righteous by the atoning blood of Jesus. So since our righteousness is not a question, what is?
The question is, does your ways delight the Lord? And, is your life on a good course?
Once you accept Christ as Savior, there is only one way to delight the Lord; put your life on the good course. There is only one good course of life; the one that God set out for us when he us.
Psalm 139:16 says, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be…”
God’s plan for your life is what will delight him and position him to uphold you in the times of difficulties and stress. God’s will for your life will bring you success and favor with God and with man, through Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Check you steps. Are they in line with God’s will for your life? If not, you need to make a course correction so that God will keep you from falling.
“Walk in all the ways that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” Deuteronomy 5:33
