Why Our Prayers Don’t Get Answered Sooner, If At All
Reason number 6: Rejecting God’s Way of Answering Your Prayer Joshua 6
May 2, 2019
We often have an idea of how we want God to answer our prayers. When we need a financial blessing, we know how much we want when we want it and how we want it to come to us. We leave no room for God to do what he knows is best.
Not only what is best for us, but God knows what’s best for everyone who is involved. But, when you and I take matters into our own hands and refuse to see God working for us because it’s not the way we want it to be done, then we are rejecting God’s way of answering our prayers.
In II King 5:8 – 14, Naaman, a Syrian was sent to the prophet Elisha, in Israel, to be healed of leprosy. When he got to Elisha, the prophet didn’t treat Naaman the way he wanted to be treated and didn’t tell him what he wanted to hear. Naaman was about to leave and not get the healing he needed all because he didn’t like how the healing was going to take place.
It took a servant to convince Naaman he should do what the prophet said in order to get the healing that he needed. Naaman thought that there should have been some grand gesture in order to get his healing. He didn’t like that he was asked to do something simple. It didn’t seem like it was going to be enough.
Many of us are the same way. We want something grand to usher in God’s blessings or His answering our prayers but, the truth is, God is going to answer our prayers His way, in His time and how He sees fit.
We have to be careful that we are not rejecting God’s way of answering our prayers because the answer doesn’t look the way we think it should.
Prayer: Lord, help me not decide how the answers to my prayers should look or come about. Help me rest in Your capable hands knowing how you choose to answer my prayers is the correct way. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
