Lord, I will listen for Your voice today. I hear the voice of the world. The voice of the world says, “Despair is the right way. Look at the economy, look at your family, and look at your finances. You’ll never make it. You might as well give up.” But Lord, then I hear Your voice say, “I am with you always, even until the end of time. I am your present help in the time of trouble.”

I hear the voice of my past reminding me of all the times I’ve messed up. Telling me, I’m the same person and that I’m going to mess up now. But then I read Your word that says I am a new creation. Old things have passed away, and everything has become new.

I hear the voice of reason, speaking clearly and rationally. “Look at the real world,” the voice of reason says, “you have no reason to hope for better. Just do the best with what you have.” But then I remember You said that You came to give me life and to give it to me more abundantly and to the full.

Today Lord, I choose to hear Your voice over all the others. Not only will I hear Your voice but I will believe what You say and ignore the voice of the world, the voice of my past and the voice of reason when it doesn’t line up with Your word. I choose to listen, obey, and follow You today, dear Lord.
