Prayer for Today

February 27, 2019

Father, there is a song that says “There’s a blessing in the storm*.” I believe that because it is during the storms in my life that I learned how to be still enough to hear your still, quiet, soft voice.

It is during these times of disturbance and turbulence in my life that I realize that you are there for me even in the darkness of my despair and desperation. Lord, it is in the storm that you teach me; even if you don’t calm the external forces in my life, you can quiet the storms in me.

You can say “peace, be still,” to my fears, worries, and insecurities. You can quiet my disquieted heart and calm my fragile nerves. You are my peace. You are my joy. You are my Lord and King who is always there for me.

And just like you do this for me, I pray that you do the same for the people of Venezuela. I pray that your peace would rest, rule and abide in this country and that you would touch the heart of the outgoing president so that he will allow his people food and health care. I ask that you hold back any further devastation from coming against them. Lord, they are counting on you.

Therefore Lord, today and every day we rest in you. I say thank you. In  the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
