Faith: Step 4 – Courageous Faith! – Part II

Hebrews 10 23

September 13, 2016

““Son of David, Jesus! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Many tried to hush him up, but he yelled all the louder, “Son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:48

When I was growing up and started working, my dad told me only take instructions from my supervisor. “Other people will try to tell you what to do”, my dad said, “but, there’s only one person who has the authority to tell you want to do. Don’t listen to anyone else.”

I was reminded of that piece of advice when I read the story of Blind Bartimaeus. When Bartimaeus started yelling, “‘Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me’” there were people who told him to stop yelling but, Bartimaeus continued to yell until Jesus answered. This is a key point for all of us.

When we start going after the things that are rightfully ours through Jesus Christ, there are going to be people telling us, “you can’t do that”, “you’re reaching beyond your limit”, “who told you, you were good enough for a position like that”; we should ignore them and only listen and respond to the voice of Jesus.

Jesus has already told us if we have faith, the size of a mustard seed, nothing will be impossible for us (Matthew 17:20). Keep yelling out to Jesus! Don’t stop until he answers!

“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22

Prayer:

Father, help me to be courageous in my faith in you. Help me listen only to your voice and respond only to your authority. In Jesus name. Amen.

Living Above Mediocrity,

Minister Anita Wamble

10 Second Prayer

God specializes in handling our situations and circumstances. Nothing we can do or anywhere we can go is beyond God’s ability and desire to reach us.

Stop fretting over things you can’t do anything about and give them to God. He can take care of them completely.
