Mass shootings play out before us every day. The 24-hour news cycle keeps the evil of people’s hearts ever before us. Last week it was a Garlic Festival in California. Saturday it was a Wal-Mart in Texas and Saturday night, another soft target in Ohio.  It’s enough to make our hearts sink into despair.

Our hearts cried out to You oh Lord, and in the midst of our sadness, uncertainty and inward war You answer us from your holy hill. You see u, and You comfort us. You bowed down to lift us up. You engage my enemies of fear, uncertainty, and hopelessness and You win.

Those of us who put our hope in You, our hope is not misplaced. Our belief in You is not misplaced. You care for Your creation and have done so all the days of our lives. We are assured of Your unfailing love for us, and we know You will respond to our trust in You by comforting our hearts and minds.

Men may have positions, but it is You that delegates authority. Men may have a say, but You have the last word. Men may plot and scheme, but it is Your plan that will never fail. Our praise goes to You all day long, for You are our God and King!

In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
