Why Our Prayers Don’t Get Answered Sooner, If At All

May 1, 2019

Reason number 5: You Doubt God James 1:5 – 8

God is willing to do anything for us that we need. He’s even willing to give us the wisdom we need to deal with every situation or circumstance that we may find ourselves in, whether it’s our fault or not. But, when we ask God for wisdom, we have to ask in faith, believing that God is going to meet us at our point of need — knowing that God is able to do what we are asking Him to do and so much more.

When we ask God for anything, He knows if we believe in His power and His ability to meet us at our point of need by our obedience to His word. If you don’t obey God, that means we doubt Him, and we don’t have faith in Him. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)

We must be honest with ourselves. Do we believe God in every situation? Do we believe that God can do everything we ask? If we do, we don’t Plan B God. When we Plan B God, we come up with options JUST IN CASE God doesn’t do what we need Him to do, when we need Him to do it.

When we doubt God, according to James 1:7 – 8, we should not expect to get anything from God because we are double-minded and unstable in all our ways. Instead, if we are shaky in our faith, we should be like the father in Mark 9:24 when he asked Jesus to “help my unbelief.” Do you need help with unbelief? If so, ask God, He will give you what you need.

Prayer:  Lord God, I want to trust you in everything, but sometimes, my doubt gets the best of me. Help my unbelief. Help me know how not to be double-minded and help me to trust and believe in you, no matter what. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
