Father, I see and hear so many parents of young children talk about their nannies or au pears raising their children. Parents who believe they should be able to have everything; stellar careers, arm candy for a spouse or significant other and genesis’ for children, yet, they don’t want to raise their children or be involved in their lives.
The parents don’t believe the teacher when they are told what their children are doing in school that are breaking rules. They don’t want to believe that “their” child could be a bully or the victim of bullying. They aren’t around their children enough to know what’s going on. They want to use their children like charms on a bracelet rather than deal with them as human beings that the parents are responsibility for raising. Father, please fix their hearts and minds so their children become their priority.
Father, help these parents to open their hearts to their children. Help them to discipline, support and love their children. Help them to teach their children that a relationship with God is more important than anything else they could desire. Help these parents become involved in school through PTA, mentoring or tutoring students who are in need of extra help. Help these parents become involved in after school sports and helping their children with their homework.
Let parents know Father, that the most important thing they can do for their children is be involved in their life. Open their eyes, so the parents may see the truth. In Jesus name. Amen.
