Prayer for Today

February 24, 2016

Father, as I purpose to get to know You better during this Lenten season, I realize just how much You love me and that You expect me to love others as much as I love myself. If my goal is really to look more like Christ then, I must put other people’s needs before my own. (John 3:16; Philippians 2:3 – 4)

Jesus underwent beating, pain, torture and abandonment all because He loved humanity so much He was welling to die for us all and save us from eternal damnation. Your word says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.” (John 15:13)

Lord, when I look at the truth of what Jesus did for me and I think about how He still blesses me regardless of what I do, I can’t help but believe that many in the Body of Christ has gotten all of this wrong.

Living our lives so that we can get stuff is not why Jesus died for us. He died for us to be an example of what we should do for each other every day. My wants, needs and desires should take a back seat to the wants, needs and desires of people around me. Father, I need Your help!

I am too selfish to think about others and what they need before considering my own wants and needs. I am too self-centered to purpose to meet the needs of others while my needs remain unmet. Father, I will never achieve greatness in Your kingdom if I don’t develop a heart for people in need. Help me Father! Forgive me Father! In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

God specializes in handling our situations and circumstances. Nothing we can do or anywhere we can go is beyond God’s ability and desire to reach us.

Stop fretting over things you can’t do anything about and give them to God. He can take care of them completely.
