Lord, in a time when we seem to have lost sight of what it means to love one another, despite our differences, help me to be a beacon of light that shines out to all humankind.

There is good in our nation but it seems that the foolishness of hatred, bigotry and bias has covered up the good. We hear words of hate, doom and condemnation loud and clear but, seldom do we hear worlds of love, consideration and thankfulness with the same volume and regularity as we hear hate. Lord God, forgive us.

Help those of us who stand for peace, love and working together to prevail again the work of hate. Help us to peaceably raise our voices throughout the land so that love can be heard. Help those of us who call ourselves Christians to show the love of Christ and not the hate of the world. Lord, we need your love, guidance and direction during these difficult times.

We will not lean on our own understanding but will lean on you, the Rock of our salvation, our hope and our strength. We pray in Jesus name. Amen.
