Prayer for Today

August 28, 2020

Lord God, Hurricane Laura, made landfall as a category four hurricane and devastated Louisiana’s western shoreline and parts of Texas with high winds and flooding. It is now pushing North to Shreveport and other major cities.

Many lives and livelihoods are in jeopardy because of the devastation compounded by high unemployment and the pandemic—people who couldn’t leave for one reason or another. People who choose not to go and some people decide too late to try to get out and were stuck without proper provision. Father, they need Your protection.

As workers for local, state, and federal agencies get ready to assist survivors, leave their families, work long and arduous hours Lord, they need You to keep them safe. As they drive to and from their appointed places, talk to depressed, sad, and sometimes angry people and still work diligently to give the appropriate assistance. Father, You are their only help.

In the coming days, weeks, and months Lord, be our help and our protection. Let us find our solace, peace, and joy in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
