Lord God, help me to show You, and people around me my love by what I do, what I say, and how I react to them.
Father, some people think of love as only an emotion, but Your word teaches us that love is so much more. Your word, through Jesus, tells us and shows us by word and example that love is a verb, demonstrated to others by our actions.
Jesus tells us the most important command is to love the Lord, and the second is to ” ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Loving, You Lord, and loving my neighbor, is equal to, or greater than, the love I have for myself. Love is an act of will. Love is a choice that leads to action. Father God, help me choose to love You and others as You have loved me.
My love for you, Lord, and my love for others determine how I respond to You and how I interact with other people. Your love for Your creation drove You to act on my behalf. Your love for me is so deep that You gave the best gift You had, Your only Son, Jesus Christ.
Father, help me to love You and others, with the same depth of love You have for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
