Father, what I’m about to pray will seem odd to those who are entrenched in this world system, but I want to be a good steward of everything you’ve given me, especially during the Christmas season.

Father, this world system wants us to overspend, go into debt and purchase a lot of things we don’t need. The world system wants us to operate out of a spirit of greed. It wants us to forget why we are celebrating Christmas, which is to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior.

Lord God, help me move out of the commercialism of Christmas and into the true meaning of the holiday. Help me to serve others. Christ came as a baby, not be served but to serve the world. Help me, Lord, to serve others during this time of year. Help me not be compelled to do more or spend more unnecessarily, but help me to show someone the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
