Lord, during the Christmas season, it seems that Jesus gets lost in the midst of present buying, holiday songs and Christmas parties.
I end up being so overwhelmed by all I’m doing I am negligent in remembering the greatest gift of all; your only begotten son, Jesus. He came to give human kind gifts that the world system cannot give us; love, joy, peace and eternal life.
Help me to slow down and enjoy the gifts of that your son so freely gave. Help me to slow down long enough to relish in your love for me. Help me to bask in the joy of knowing you as my friend. Help me exemplify the peace that surpasses all understanding.
Lord, help me to operate in the truth of the celebration: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.”
In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
