Prayer for Today

galatians-6-3

December 16, 2016

Father, in Proverbs 15: 3 your word says you watch over the wicked and the good. Normally, I think of the wicked and the good as two different people. The saved and the unsaved. The righteous and the unrighteous. Those justified by faith in Jesus and those whom are not justified.

This morning when I read that scripture it struck me that I have wicked and good in me. For the first time, I realized, with a full measure of certainty, that this passage of scripture wasn’t about two different persons but, it was about the two-different people I am. The wicked me and the good me.

Father, I have wickedness bound in my heart and even if I don’t say wicked words out of my mouth, they are still in my heart and mind. And to you, wickedness of any kind, whether spoken or non-spoken is a sin. You see them and know them even though I don’t say them. Forgive me.

Thank you for the good that is in me. I know without you, I have no good in me but because of you, good lives in me. The good you’re talking about is being in good relationship with you and with people. The good you’re talking about effects every thought I have, every word I say and every action I take.

Thank you Lord for making me aware that you are watching over everything thing I do, say and think, even when I don’t want you to know what’s really going on in my heart. I ask your forgiveness and thank you for your mercy! In Jesus name, I pray, amen.
